Children ( and other people who cannot have a bank ) rely on cash!

Children's job is to learn about the world, so when they grow up they can operate within it. One big part of it ( in a world that has money ) is to learn about how money works. But due to them not being recognized as humans by the state, a right to have a bank account is taken away from them, so the only means of money they have is cash.

This is also true for many types of immigrants and semi-legal workers all accross Israel, who's rights are similarly unrecognized. And who can only use cash to survive.

Cashless society will make our children dumber ( in relation to money ) and will un-rightfully punish immigrants and semi-legal workers all around the country. Semi-legal workers, on whom, by the way, Israel's infrastructure rests.

What about cards allowing kids to use parent's bank accounts?

You probably have seen ads of bank cards specifically designed to give children. Those cards let the parents see what kids are buying. And let parents control their spending.

Those cards have all the problems that cashless has. Specifically the most problematic one is the problem of lack of privacy. If we are afraid for adult safety enough that we recognize lack of privacy as a major problem, this problem is way more important when it comes to children. Even if the card will have the name and the address of the parents. It is still way too much information to give to potentially wrong hands.

Selling Lemonade

Lawmakers argue that removing cash will remove black markets. But black markets are any markets that aren't properly taxed. Example: A child selling lemonade on the street.

To learn how money works kids need to both buy and sell things. And selling lemonade or other things make them learn better. Cashless will make this impractical.

Semi-Legal workers ( and immigrants )

Aliah takes time. And people who come to Israel as immigrants need to survive all this time. Sometimes the legal procedures might take years. And not a lot of those people have capital to just burn for years. They need work. And black market cash work is the only option they have until they become citizens or Israel.

More than that, those semi-legal jobs are usually the kind that most Israelis wouldn't do out of dignity. But the kinds on which the entire economy rests. Making a cashless society will make both immigration almost impossible and also will ruin the infrastructure.
