Bank accounts can be stolen too!

A lot of people want cashless since there will be nothing to steal for criminals. But it is just plainly not true. Criminals around the world barely target cash anymore, because they know that getting access to your bank account is much more lucrative for them.

Phony websites

A lot of criminals operate websites that look and feel like your typical websites. Tricking people to "login" into them, giving criminals access to various accounts that this person has. Some of which can be linked to finance in one way or another. But some of them can be bad enough to trick you into giving them your credit card information directly.

Paying to criminals with the credit card, gives them a window to suck out as much money from your bank account as they possibly can. Paying them instead in cash, would not give them more than just the money you gave them.

Card reading devices

New credit cards ( for the convenience of the users ) implemented an option of contact-less payment. Often called "wifi". Which introduces a security vulnerability not present in cash ( or older cards ). People with credit card readers ( which are implemented in modern mobile phones ) can collect credit card information of many people in crowded areas.

Older cards ( or people with specific metal shielding in the wallet ) are still susceptible to a similar attack, when a person is tricked to swipe a card into a compromised reader device.

With cash, if somebody reaches for your pocket, you will most likely feel it. And even if somebody steals the money you had in the wallet. It would not be all of your money. Unless you are stupid.

Taking a picture of the credit card

An even less technical way to get access to your credit card would be to simply snap a picture of it. If the numbers on the card are clear enough, the criminal can use those numbers to buy things with it. And therefor can transfer money.

Taking a picture of cash is not as dangerous.
