For the longest time Dani's Race was music-less. Which made the game kind of boring to
play. With version 25-09-24 Dani's Race now has an original soundtrack recorded from
live electric guitar. The soundtrack repeats the motifs from
Moria's Race
, the movie the game is continuing.
The soundtrack is made out of 4 compositions with various levels on intensity, but
composed in such a way that they could be blended with one another, without causing
much dissonance.
The music also added a whole new simulation to the game that could potentially spawn
some game mechanics in the future. Dani's Adrenalin level. It is used to determent how
intense the soundtrack should be, but also it now controls the camera shake effect to
add to the intensity.
Music can be turned off in the settings.
Police
For some time people asked me to introduce some sort of police into the game. There was a
semi-police in a form of chasing NPC cars. Which still exists. But now the game also gets
a dedicated police force in a form of black and white cars with nitro that can give some
chase. And yes, you can steal them.
Better Racing AI
Racing AI is a complex thing to do right. Especially in a game where the race is not
really defined very well, since the setting is an open world. And while previous versions
had a descent AI that could give some challenge to those unfamiliar with the game. This
version introduces a whole additional system of navigation for the Racing AI improving
them so much that now they can even compete with very good race-gamers.
Hatchback 2
Moria's Race had a good amount of cars modeled for it that can be converted into playable
cars in the game. Which makes adding one such car per update a good idea.
